Into the Blue

Into the Blue (Widescreen Edition)

This is another one of those movies that I'm glad I got to see it, but I doubt I will be adding it to my library. For me, it took awhile for it to grab my attention, but middle ways I got into it and the ending was pretty good. It still isn't something that I would deem rewatchable.

When a Stranger Calls

When a Stranger CallsAlthough this movie isn't too bad, it is not what the previews hyped it to be. It started out fast, but then slowed to a lull. The constant calls were beginning to get boring until the action picked up again at the end. I am satisfied that I got to see it, but I don't feel like it's one that I will be adding to my movie library.

The Dukes of Hazzard

The Dukes of Hazzard (Unrated Widescreen Edition)In all honesty, I had my reservations about his movie by it being a remake of the TV show, but middleways of the movie I was laughing and cheering, "go boys, go!" For me the winner here is Willie Nelson as Uncle Jessie. I'm still undecided as to if I will be adding this one to my movie library or not.

UltraViolet

Ultraviolet (Unrated, Extended Cut) I watched this movie with CR last night. I enjoyed it although it was kind of hard to follow. The special effects were great and so was Milla Jovovovich (sp.?).

Madea's Family Reunion

Madea's Family Reunion (2006) I love the first movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and so decided to purchase this one. I feel that it wasn't quite as funny as the first one, but still enjoyable. Madea is just too funny.

Underworld: Evolution

Yes, I added this movie to my DVD collection not because it's a sequel (and I have to have everything in a set), but because it's just that good. I loved the story in this movie and the special effects were just great. The actors were really good also. This is a definite movie to watch if you are into the vampire store and such.

Firewall

CR talked me into buying this one, and I'm glad that I did. This was a pretty good movie in my opinion and not just because it starred Harrison Ford. It's a good thriller that held my attention throughout the whole thing. Harrison did a good job acting in this one, but then again I think he's just a good actor period.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

Can we say, “totally awesome!”? Yep, that’s what this movie is in my opinion. I was quite surprised with the direction that the screenwriters went for this story, but not disappointed. There were some sad moments that had me in tears, but overall a great action movie. As most of you may have heard by now, there is a small clip at the end of the credits that you must see. To understand it though, you must pay attention to one scene at the early start of the movie: Warning: this is a small spoiler and therefore will be hidden from view. If anyone wishes to read the following you must use your cursor to highlight the area as if you were going to copy and paste. Start here: Pay close attention to the scene where Xavier is teaching a class about a person whose body is visible but the mind is no longer functioning. He will start to talk about the ethics of transferring one person’s mind into this shell of body when he gets interrupted. I like the addition of Beast, and I think that Kelsey Grammer did a great job with this role. This is one that I will definitely be adding to my DVD library when it is released. Not just because it’s part of series, and I have to own all of the sequels to it, but because it’s that good.

Silent Hill

Totally wicked! I loved this. Hubby and I saw this at the theaters on the 22nd. This was a great way to end the week off. The story line is pretty much like that of the first Silent Hill game with just a few differences. It has the eerie atmosphere, grotesque figures, and unusual plot just like the game. This is one that I will definitely be adding to my collection when it is released on DVD. Just a note. I strongly urge parents that are in the habit of disregarding ratings and take their young children to R rated movies, to reconsider on this one. I feel that it was gory at the end and wouldn't be appropriate for younger viewers.

The Chronicles of Narnia

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I felt that the kids did a wonderful job acting and the special effects were breathtaking. I actually bought the book that this movie is based on, but I've yet to immerse myself into C. S. Lewis' imagination. This is one that I have added to my DVD library and will most definitely be watching over and over.

Stay Alive

Hubby and I saw this at the theaters on the 15th. We both thought it looked good being that we love to play video games. I have to say that I thought it was cool. I liked the story line.

Monday

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I bought this movie a couple of weeks ago, but with working, I just hadn't gotten around to watching it. Now I'm not great with reviews so bear with me. I love the Harry Potter series(books and movies), but this one just seems lacking a little. Don't get me wrong. It's still a great movie, and I loved it, but with Rowling's books getting longer it seems like the next movie just gets more hurried or so. This one didn't have the flow to it like the first two movies did. The special effects were great, and I really loved the ending, but you can tell that they're really having to work to keep this movie in the time constraints. All in all, it's still a good movie and a must have if you're a die hard Harry Potter fan.

Zathura

First and foremost, I apologize for having such terrible reviews. I was never that great at giving reviews about anything especially for books and movies. I don't really know how to give a review without giving details so that I don't spoil it for those that haven't seen it. Anyway, this is my space, and I would like to recommend movies that I have interest in for others to see. I just got done watching this with my son, and I have to say that we both loved it. I even like it better than Jumanji. The best way to describe this one is Jumanji in space. I think that it would be good as a family movie. There is only one part in the whole movie that I can remember where it would be objectionable and that is where Danny calls his brother, Walter, a dick. Other than that I felt that it was a great story and the kids done wonderful jobs acting.

Saturday

Monster-in-Law

I rent my movies through Netflix. We used to have a movie rental place here in town, but for some reason it closed, and with me not being able to drive, it just makes it easier to be able to see movies. We received this movie last weekend, and I really liked it. I'm not a big fan of Jennifer Lopez, but I did like her in this movie. Now this isn't one that I would go out and buy for my collection, but it was enjoyable to watch. Jane Fonda was wonderful as the mother-in-law. I would definitely recommend this to watch.

Flightplan

Just got done watching this one. Again, I feel that Jodie Foster done an exceptional job. I've always liked her in movies. I really liked the story in this one. It has one of those twist kind of endings. I can say that this one that I don't mind having in my DVD library.

Tuesday

Lord of War

Okay, don't get me wrong. I love Nicholas Cage as an actor and I think he did a great job in this movie. As far as the plot goes, I have to say this movie sucked for me. Now, I'm an action, horror, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi type kind of girl. And it is very hard for something to keep my attention. Although I watched for the simple fact that dear ol' hubby picked it up while getting groceries, I have to say we could have saved our money and rented this thing. It was a little interesting, but it is definitely one of those where I would only watch it once. It just doesn't have that rewatch appeal.
