Remember Me...

Liz, the one who would try to write something everyday or other day. I've really slacked off and that bugs me. I like coming here and jotting down my thoughts, but lately there isn't really anything to write about that would sound interesting. Also, I'm coming home really tired for some reason and thinking requires too much work. So, all this week I've been coming home and hopping into bed with my CSI books. Makes for some good sleepin' after reading a chapter or two.

As you can see I've already changed my theme (at Windows Live Spaces). I wanted something with fall colors with Halloween coming up. Maybe this weekend I will work on that entry about my mom and her craftywork. Alot of our decorations for outside were made by her and I think y'all would enjoy looking at the photos of her crafty notions.

I must cut this short and head off to bed to begin yet another boring day.

How I Made My Banner (For My Windows Live Space)

Not much really went on today, so instead of my daily jots, I will write about how I made my banner for my Windows Live Space. Cee posed the question to me in a comment so I thought I would oblige by giving her an answer here. Please keep in mind that I am terrible with instructions so I'm basically just going to go through what I do to make one.

First, head over to Altered Spaces on instructions on how to set up your banner with the html sandbox. He gives the dimensions that you need and where to place the box in order to get the banner to load properly.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 3 to play. I start out with a blank document and then play with the paint bucket tool and brushes with the colors that coincide or blend in with the theme that I am currently using. This month I used a pink theme so I used colors that I thought would look good. Basically just experiment with brush strokes, filters, colors, and such until you get what appeals to you. Next month's theme will be an autumn one so I have already made a banner with those colors.

Next after creating my banner I save it to my computer. I make sure that I save it as a jpeg file in order to upload it to the internet. Upload your banner to whatever you use for storing files on the internet (ex. http://www.imageshack.us/). I have my photos stored at Flickr so I upload my banners there. Once you have your image uploaded you can then insert the url to the image in the html sandbox along with the necessary code. Head on over to Altered Spaces for the rest of the instructions on the code and sandbox placement.

Hope this helps and gives you ideas.

Storms-A-Ragin'

First, I'd like to apologize again, for not posting regularly. I'm coming home from work too tired to really think, and there's not really anything particularly important to blog about. Basically this week I've been coming home, checking email, and randomly reading blogs on my regular reading list. After that, I hit the bed, read CSI Snake Eyes and then sleep.

Wyrm and I were supposed to go into work yesterday, but at the last minute changed our minds. The previous night was one of those nights where if anything could go wrong, well, it did. Storms ravaged our area. At one point in the night we were advised to go to our storm "safe" areas and wait until the "all clear" to go back to the floor. That began the rest of the night of mechanical failure which caused a major backup of our production. We are way behind now. I was afraid with going in and what had happened we would be required to work until way up in the morning (a strong "guesstimate" would be 3:00-4:00 AM), and I just simply could not fathom the idea of standing that long on my problem foot. I really need to find another job. Not just for my sanity's sake, but also for my body's sake. Which is why I have been doing some research on area colleges and other things. I do believe that it is set in my heart to try to go back to school and earn a degree. Something I should have done when I was younger.

Severe storms wreaked havoc on our area yesterday and Friday. They were bad enough to spawn tornados in some counties and counted for 7 deaths here in Kentucky and 1 in Arkansas. Flash flooding is also happening. Luckily the front has gone through and all is still now with no more chance of rain till Thursday. The chill will return in the night as was previously in the week before the storms. Makes for good snuggling weather. I love to bundle up under covers to snooze.

I haven't done it yet, but I do plan to write an entry on my mom, the craft nut. I piqued other's interest when I mentioned this before. I have to go through my albums and hunt up all the pictures I have taken of her handiwork. Right now she's working on a beautiful butterfly quilt. I'm seriously asking her to make me one. I love having her handmade stuff.

I will close this with an introduction to a newbie blogger that I just found a few minutes ago. Nan is a grandmother who is raising her 4 year old grandson. She has just started her own space to relay her trials and tribulations of raising Ethan. Please take a moment and hop over to her space, Raising Our Daughter's Son, to welcome to Spaces.

Back to Work

I'm back at work and not loving it. Nothing has changed while I was off enjoying myself. Still the same ridiculous things going on. I did do a bad thing though. Dingy me got up, got dressed, and went out the door to work completely forgetting to wrap my ankle. Oh and how I'm paying for it now. I don't even want to think how bad it's going to hurt when I get up. Bad me.

I woke to find CR at home instead of school. He woke sick at his stomach, and according to mom, white as a sheet. By mid afternoon, he was feeling a little better. Hopefully it's not a virus. I went to work feeling kind of blah and queasy feeling. I'd hate to have to stay home just to spend a day in the bathroom.

I am so tired. I believe I will close for now. There's nothing really new going on anyway. I will finish up reading my nightly haunts and call it a night.

Nuttin' Much Today

Today was spent the same as yesterday. Just sifting through my belongings (junk) and finding more stuff to put into the upcoming sale. Did my daily reading of blogs. Played alittle Text Twist and Mahjong Quest on the computer and watched the marathon of "Dog" The Bounty Hunter. That's another show that mom has got me into. Too bad I won't be home to see the special that A&E will be airing Tuesday on the Chapmans' recent arrest. I would have liked to see that. Now CR is wanting me to watch movies with him. We both slept late, so we'll probably be a couple of nightowls tonight.

Coming Down to the End

Another day gone of my vacation, and I'm not liking it. When I'm at work, the days drag by so slow till the weekend. While I'm on vacation, it's like time just whizzes by. I can say that I have loved being home to see CR come home from school. I've also managed to go through the items on the bookshelf in the living room to see what I could get rid of. Actually, quite a bit of stuff (books, magazines, computer software, games, strategy guides for games), and I haven't even went through all of the games yet. My friend, T, said that she wanted first dibs on the computer software. She loves the American Greetings Create-A-Card programs. I have a couple of old ones that I'm not using. I'm also planning to go through my closet and finally get rid of those clothes that do not fit. I don't see myself miraculously dropping about 100 lbs anytime soon. No sense in those clothes hanging in the closet any longer.

I think I will call it a day and head off into the bedroom to watch episodes of CSI: Miami.

An Enjoyable Day

Yesterday was an enjoyable day. The rains had stopped, but instead of that sultry sun poking out from behind the clouds, the skies were overcast, and the temps were wonderful. Yes, a perfect day to be out in Owensboro with my hubby. First stop was the mall to visit Raventales. Raventales is an RPG store for gamers. Right up Wyrm's alley. There were some manuals that he had been wanting for awhile. Plus, he loves to browse in there. Next stop was Gamestop where I picked up two strategy guides for CR's games: Guild Wars Factions and Lego Star Wars Two. I also found a guide for Wyrm's game World of Warcraft. The third stop was Books-A-Million for me. I was in search of some CSI books to add to the ones that I already have, found another guide for Wyrm, and I also picked up two books on Dreamweaver 8. Last stop was to dine at Olive Garden. I absolutely love this restaurant. Wyrm had stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and alfredo sauce for our breadsticks. I ordered the Tour of Italy while Wyrm had the Lasagna. There was no room for dessert, but I did down a Chocolate Almond Amore. Delish. The rest of my vacation now will be spent just blissfully enjoying not being at work.

A Dreary Start to My Vacation

Dreary, dreary, dreary. Yep, that's what the weather was here. It was raining off and on all day, and to add to this gloomy day, all of the phones in our house are dead. No dial tone or anything, but yet I am able to get online. Go figure? Mom remarked earlier that it's been peaceful without the phone ringing, but she is missing making her daily call to grandma. I went to the BellSouth site while ago and reported our problem and they replied that they will be looking into the problem.

Well, it seems like I finally have a moment to collect my thoughts and jot them down. Wyrm worked late again all last week, and by the time we got home, I just didn't feel like writing. I only managed to keep up with my nightly blog reading to stay caught up on everyone's goings on. I have been experiencing some trouble accessing some spaces this week. A couple have either been deleted or they changed their permission settings for privacy. Another has caused my MSN browser to lock up, so I haven't been able to get to her space either until last night.

My agenda for my vacation this week is to do the little things that I have kept putting off. I decluttered the computer table and the end table by my chair will be the next thing in line. I'm also planning on going through my belongings and seeing what computer software, games, clothing, and books that I could possible part with without spazzing. Our idea is to have a yard sale soon. Mom wants to get it done so that she can decorate her porch for the fall. She loves to decorate for the seasons and holidays. I may do an entry on her crafty creations with photos. She loves to craft, sew, and quilt. My sis has just recently got our mom into beadwork, too. We are a bunch that has to piddle with things to pass the time and occupy our minds.

Wyrm and I have made plans to head to Owensboro sometime this week to loaf and relax. He wants to go to Raventales to browse through their Dungeons and Dragons books, and I want to go to Olive Garden and Books-A-Million. Like I really need another book.

Hopefully this week I can post like I really want to. There have been ideas for entries to pop into my head but just didn't feel like fooling with jotting down those thoughts. Now I will have plenty of time to write.

In Memory-September 11, 2001

In honor and loving memory of the fallen heroes and loved ones of September 11, 2001.

Gone but not forgotten

A Nation Cries

Shh, listen carefully, can you hear her?

There's someone softly crying

Her sobbing the only sound.

Hands out, can you feel her tears

Gently falling from the sky?

Proof of a broken heart all around.

Hands together, hearts as one, can we say a prayer?

Peace sent to those gone

And the ones left to cry.

A nation in mourning, we are together, can we heal from this tragedy?

She's left forever scarred

And we are all asking why.

We the people, we are one, we stand together.

Did they think they could make us fall?

It's forever that we shall stand

Human to human, country to country, we begin to come together

Forming a chain of peace.

Together we hold the strength hand in hand.

She cries, she breaks, she bleeds, and she mends.

We shall overcome...there will be a tomorrow.

With September Comes Changes

I've done some revamping around here as you can tell. I've changed the theme, removed some modules, renamed some modules, and also changed the title. Since the blog I have at Blogger Beta is the mirror of this one here, I thought that they should both have the same name.

Finally it feels like I have a moment to collect my thoughts and jot them down. Wyrm worked over most of this week. By the time we got home, I didn't much feel like writing. There isn't really anything to convey. Work is still getting on my nerves. Also, for some reason this week, I haven't felt much like writing. Don't know why? Call it blogger's block if you will and the fact that CR has been hogging my computer to play Guild Wars has also played a part in me not being online this weekend.

We celebrated my mom's birthday today since I won't be here on the 6th to celebrate it then. Nothing much. We just fixed tacos and I bought her a cake. The funny on this was I wanted to pick up some candles for her cake but went blank on her age. I took her birth year and subtracted it from this year to get her age. Only I subtracted wrong. I was showing the candles to CR when he exclaimed, "Mimi's not 79! She's 69." Oh crap! I did the number switch. We told her what I had done and she just laughed. Now the irony is that when she went to tell Grandma what I had done Grandma told her daughter, "Well that was just fine. I also had you as 79 till Sonn (mom's brother) said that you would only be 69. I can't remember my own daughter's age." We all had a laugh over this.

Vacation will be next week. Wyrm and I are taking time off for our 8 year wedding anniversary that will be on the 9th. Also Sept. 11 is coming up and there maybe a blogging carnival over at Blogging Chicks for this. Not sure yet. I believe that I will be posting something here if it doesn't creep up on me and I forget.

I was shocked to hear that Steve "Crocodile Hunter" Irwin died yesterday due to a stingray piercing his heart. Most children love to sit in front of the tv watching Sesame Street, Barney, and the like, but not my CR. Nope. He was always pacified by watching the Crocodile Hunter and Jeff Corwin. He did like the Nick Jr. shows that aired early morning, but that was about it.

I must call it a night and head off to bed for sleep.
